This year we are proud to present 30 Rising Stars. As in the past, Rising Stars are those in the local community 40 and younger who have made significant strides in their careers and who have given back to the community through their dedication to volunteerism and charity.

About 60 people were nominated for the honor this year. An independent panel of judges from the community rated the nominees in five areas that gauged their work ethic and community involvement. Needless to say, many other nominees beyond these winners are likely to be honored in years to come.

We meet regularly with other CRP members to help one another out to grow our businesses by providing encouragement and ideas.

I would not have had a chance to meet this individual without the CRP. Even though I have only been a member for a few years, I have improved professionally and personally and have seen my relationships expand.

When I joined the Rising Professionals, I did so at the suggestion of my boss at the organization I had joined in 2010. COPPeR, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, strives to provide training and development opportunities to its employees, and the Rising Professionals program is the best local outlet for that. I began by simply attending events every once in a while, meeting new business contacts and making friends.

Toward the end of 2011, I decided to join the RP Marketing Committee in hopes to learn more about the marketing field and connect with folks in the local marketing community. Joining the committee proved to be much more than just a learning experience. We learn from each other due to our varied experiences in the field, but also feel empowered to share our own opinions and expertise.

In 2012, I took another step to get the most from my RP membership, by applying to the Mentorship program. It’s totally free for RPs and I can’t imagine why anyone would choose not to take advantage of this opportunity. A few weeks ago I was paired with an amazing mentor and have already met with her a couple times. I’m already extremely excited for the things she’ll teach me, and how she will help me become the career woman I’ve been working toward.

The Rising Professionals program is an opportunity I’m very thankful to have as I get a jump start on my future. I hope every up-and-comer in the Pikes Peak region decides to use these opportunities to their fullest!
